Ballaghaderreen company win Local Enterprise Award

The winner of this year’s County Enterprise Award is Ballaghaderreen based enterprise Tully Forge Limited. The family-owned enterprise was established in 2010 and were presented with their award at a special ceremony in the Hodson Bay Hotel Athlone yesterday (Mon.).

The company’s Director Gerard Mulrennan received the award from the Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Cllr. Liam Callaghan, accompanied by Chief Executive, Shane Tiernan.

Tully Forge Ltd. currently employ ten people as well as two Directors and are located in Ballaghaderreen Business Park. The company engage in welding and fabrication for contract, with exports to the United States, Australia, and Canda.

A further four companies, backed and supported by Roscommon’s Local Enterprise Office (LEO) were also recognised. The winners of the Social Enterprise Award were Triest Press, who have offices in Castlerea and Roscommon.

Further winners included Roscommon town based The Upholstery Company in the Sustainability category and Monksland based Dunbar Pharma in the Ambition and Growth award category.

The Outstanding Contribution Award was won by Waldron Family Meats, who were established 35 years ago from their base in Brideswell.

Chief Executive of Roscommon County Council Shane Tiernan paid tribute to all the award winners and for their immense contribution to the local economy. He said small and medium businesses were the bedrock of the county’s economy.

Mr. Tiernan also paid tribute to LEO’s Head of Enterprise Louise Ward, who was attending her final Enterprise Awards after 27 years of dedicated service to the Local Enterprise sector, in that time, overseeing the creation of over one thousand local jobs.
